Hiring Employees
When you hire a new employee, make sure to follow the list below to fully integrate him/her into your practice.
- Prepare his/her desk, cabinets, telephone and supplies
- Engrave a nametag, and desk sign
- Introduce to all employees
- Outline what the employee should do that day and during the orientation period. Checklist of all tasks to be learned, and who is doing the training.
- Tour of the office
- Film the first introduction to a patient
- Assign a “buddy”
- Prepare a bio and photo and give to all employees before the new employee arrives
- Put this on a poster “Meet our Latest Addition” for all patients to see
- Provide the new employee with a fact sheet about the practice
- Have a staff luncheon in honour of the new employee
- Immediate supervisor meets with the employee at the end of each day with any questions
- Take a photo and add to the practice’s photo album
What you do from the moment a new employee enters the office can determine whether he/she becomes an asset or a liability to your organization.
