Hiring Employees

When you hire a new employee, make sure to follow the list below to fully integrate him/her into your practice.

  1. Prepare his/her desk, cabinets, telephone and supplies
  2. Engrave a nametag, and desk sign
  3. Introduce to all employees
  4. Outline what the employee should do that day and during the orientation period. Checklist of all tasks to be learned, and who is doing the training.
  5. Tour of the office
  6. Film the first introduction to a  patient
  7. Assign a “buddy”
  8. Prepare a bio and photo and give to all employees before the new employee arrives
  9. Put this on a poster “Meet our Latest Addition” for all patients to see
  10. Provide the new employee with a fact sheet about the practice
  11. Have a staff luncheon in honour of the new employee
  12. Immediate supervisor meets with the employee at the end of each day with any questions
  13. Take a photo and add to the practice’s photo album

What you do from the moment a new employee enters the office can determine whether he/she becomes an asset or a liability to your organization.
